This porcelain figurine from the Four Continents series is the personification of Europe with a crown, cornucopia, and a book and globe – symbolising the arts and sciences. These attributes represent her leading position in peacekeeping skills. She stands atop a jagged base decorated with a rearing horse framed in a relief cartouche, an allusion to Europe’s sovereignty in war.
